  • Heat tool

  • Craft mat and gloves (to keep your hands clean)

September Cardmaking Challenge

This September, I challenge you to dive into your crafting stash and use something that’s been sitting unused! Whether it's a stamp set, a Distress Spray, or any other craft supply you’ve been meaning to use, now is the perfect time to get creative.

How to Participate:

  1. Create a project: Use at least one item from your stash that you've never used before.

  2. Share Your Creation: Post your card on social media using the hashtag #SeptemberStashChallenge and tag me so I can see your amazing work!

Let’s make this fall season a time to craft, connect, and create with confidence!

How to make the card!

Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace

Begin by setting up your crafting area. Lay down a craft mat to protect your surface and grab some gloves if you prefer to keep your hands clean. I always recommend using watercolor or mixed media paper because these types handle the moisture from sprays very well.

Step 2: Create Your Distress Spray Background

Start by selecting your Distress Spray colors. I chose purples, reds, browns, and yellows to create a vibrant, autumn-inspired palette. Shake each spray well to mix the pigments, then start spraying the colors onto the paper. Don't be afraid to overlap colors—this adds depth and interest to your background!

Pro Tip:

Use a heat tool to dry the layers in between sprays. This technique helps to build up texture and prevent colors from blending too much.

Step 3: Add Stamping Elements

Now that your background is complete, it's time to add some stamped elements. I'm using a stamp set from the 2021 Stamptember collection. Choose a stamp that complements your background—think leaves, pumpkins, or any fall-themed design. Use a permanent ink pad to stamp your design onto the dried spray background.

Step 4: Assemble Your Fall Card

Trim your sprayed and stamped paper to fit your card base. Adhere it with strong adhesive or double-sided tape. For added dimension, consider using foam tape to pop up some elements.

Step 5: Challenge Yourself This September!

To celebrate the fall season, I’m challenging you to use something from your stash that you haven’t touched in a while. Maybe it’s a stamp set you’ve never used or a spray color that’s been sitting in the back of your drawer. Let’s get creative and make something beautiful!

Cardmaking is all about experimenting and having fun with your supplies. This fall, take the time to explore new techniques with Distress Sprays, challenge yourself, and create with confidence!
